When and who founded the DS Spirit Association?

DS Spirit Association was founded in 2007 at the initiative of a group of speleologists, members of Romanian Federation of Speleology.

Which are the main aims of the association’s activity?

Promoting, preservation and research of the natural and cultural patrimony

Which is the mission of DS SPIRIT Association?

Encouraging and supporting any person, institution or organization which can bring a contribution in promoting, preservation and research of natural and cultural patrimony through science, art, media, cultural manifestations, etc.

 Why DS Spirit is needed?

The experience cumulated during the years, through organizing/participating in different national and international expeditions helped us understand that most of the times, the explorer of underground, discover at the land surface amazing places, cultures, people, traditions and destinies, which he cannot ignore.

Organizing a speleological expedition involves a great number of people and the equivalent logistics. These two aspects are provided relatively easily by the Romanian Federation of Speleology and the affiliated speleological associations.  But it is a great loss that all this concentration of forces to be focused just in one direction, the underground.

Therefore, DS Spirit Association, evading from the strictly speleological component, will also support and encourage activities of promoting and research of natural and socio-cultural patrimony of the locations where expeditions/trips will be organized, « using»  the human and logistic resources already existent.

This enlargement of the activity domain, from a strictly speleological, to a cultural, artistic or social one, doesn’t involves an exaggerated polyvalence, but confers a complex character to some activities that can be harmoniously brought together.
